Length
Size Matters - Length
The length of a board will influence stability and paddling powder. The greater the length, the more surface area there is to support the surfer’s body and weight. If a board floats the body better, then it will be easier to paddle faster. The downside to a longer board is increased side water resistance, making it more difficult to change direction. Surfing a shorter board will support less of the surfer’s weight, requiring the surfer to push the board and body through the water. This causes paddling to be slower and more difficult.
