Which surfer has the right-of-way on a wave?
In Beginner - Asked by Eric Casey
The surfer closest to the breaking water (whitewash) and riding toward the shoulder of the wave has the right of way. Dropping in ahead of a surfer already riding a wave is considered poor etiquette. It can result in injury, damaged boards, and ill will. If you snake a wave from someone accidentally, then you should exit the wave calmly by going over the back of the unbroken shoulder. Acknowledge your mistake to the person and then forget about it. Mistakes happen.
