Becker Speed Shape

Manufacturer Description
The Speed Shape by Becker is a classic performance mid-size board... Similar in rails/rocker/contours to the lc-3, the speed sports a narrower squash tail and pulled in pointed nose. built between 7’2" to 7’10" and 21 1/2" wide, this shape is great for the surfer who demands more power and punch, or enjoys riding more challenging conditions on a mid-size board. Northern california surfers enjoy the pull-in nose in windy, choppy conditions (not that anyone really "enjoys" those conditions)... It just works great! soft, thin 50/50 rails forward transitioning into a hard speed edge tail rail, with just a touch of concave bottom contour nose to loosen the rail to rail transition. fcs fin system... Standard weight double 6 ounce deck, and single six ounce bottom. Shown is a classy 7’6"... All our boards are hand built (shaped and glassed) in becker’s hermosa beach california factory.

Switching to some custom FCS fins really helped the manueverability significantly! Original basic FCS fins really hold the board back.

Catches all size and types of waves easily, can be duckdived with a strong effort, works under most conditions. I would change the tail to a pin tail or rounded pintail for larger waves. I expect to use a very similar board for head and above size conditions, and to use a classic longboard for head and below. The new board would come out for smaller stuff if it were very fast or hollow.

This is shortboard for longboarders. Best for fast head high waves where you want to draw fast flowing lines. Style surfing without all that jerky shit.
