Channel Islands Whip

Manufacturer Description
The Whip by Channel Island - In landlocked neighborhoods a man’s “whip” is his customized ride, his prized mode of transportation. Kelly’s prized “Whips” for less than perfect surf during his 9th World Title run were his 5’10” x 18 5/8” and 5’8” x 18 7/8" x 2 5/16” swallow tails. Evident by Kelly’s phenomenal start with wins at both Snapper and Bells, this design came alive and skated over the flat spots. This is Kelly and Al’s re-worked version of the Flyer, with a few secret changes this board is faster and more forgiving. If you’re looking for a board that excels when your shortboard seems to bog, this is the board for you.

Thicker than most shortboards through the nose and ears. Paddles well and gets in to waves easily. Heavy tail rocker allows the board to be whipped around and turn on-rail, but takes away from the boards stability and gives the board a rocking horse feel under your feet.

I think you need to be a big guy to ride this board. To much foam under feet.

Surfed in Hawaii, Bali, and NorCal OB. Pretty versatile board from small waves or double overhead. I have the five fin option which is good for big waves. I'm a big guy 205 and I surf a6'4" 35 L volume. Paddles well and the low rocker helps with take offs.

I think I need more board. CI Whip is 7' , 22 3/4", and 3". I weigh 218 and am 55. Been surfing for 40 years and thought this board would give me enough paddle power. I thought wrong! Been looking at the Channel island m13 and was debating on the 8' or the 8'6". What are your thoughts?

I have had in 2011 and 2012, 2 surfboard Whip and there were great in small surf ( but not too small..) Easy paddle, a lot of stability and really good in turns. This year (2017) I bought another one!
