We forged this blade in the beach breaks of Japan, and honed it in the point breaks of Santa Cruz. Ride it an inch or so smaller than normal, as it is a bit straight in the outline between the feet, making it ride a bit longer. This is our model with the most pronounced hip. We have made hundreds of these boards in Japan over the last six years, and it continues to be a favorite. It's a medium rockered shortboard that fits beautifully into tight places while it keeps up its speed in the flats. It works best in sizes 6'1" and below. Aside from some Japanese pros you've never heard of, Mike Morrissey chooses the Katana to earn his living (don't you wish you could earn your living with a surfboard?).
