Martin Dunn Brings Surf Coaching To The Web

online surf coaching surfcoach.comFor more than 25 years now, international surfing pro Martin Dunn has been coaching surfers of all stripes, from beginners to competition-grade pros.  For example, 14 WCT surfers, 14 ISA World Junior Champions, 10 Australian Junior Champions and the Australian Junior Team.  So needless to say, he knows how to coach surfers.

On day Martin had the idea to bring his surf coaching to the web through a multimedia experience that includes video, blog and interaction with other surfers.  But, would it really be possible to teach surfing from thousands of miles away?  Martin believed it was.

“SurfCoach.com is a website that has instructional videos that people can access online. It’s morphed from previous versions of the website where I used to sell instructional DVDs and send them out to people,” Martin said.

“I was producing instructional products, videos, training booklets in Australia and then I decided to sell them more broadly through the web.  And that’s changed now to where you can just watch the videos online, and that’s a much easier delivery system than buying and watching DVDs that are sent through the mail. So now people can access the videos from anywhere in the world."

Here is an example of the type of video you can expect from SurfCoach.com:

Surfcoach.com’s rich variety of videos, articles, blogs, and other surfing resources are underlined by Martin’s career. As one of the highest-profile professional surfing coaches in the business, he’s helped all types of surfers take their surfing to the next level.

“You can be a total beginner or intermediate, and there’s even stuff on there for advanced and competitive surfers,” Martin said. “I work with people from about 12 years of age up to about 20, and I’m working fundamentally on their technique and their decision making. And the reason for that is, if you have good technique, you have good success; if you make good decisions you maximize what the wave can offer for the surfer.”

“I work at all levels. I’ve got a son who competes on the WCT, Ben Dunn. Of the top 16 girls, about six or seven were trained seriously with me, and with the guys, it’s probably about around five at the moment who have trained seriously here. That’s the top end of the market, but they didn’t just appear, they worked hard over a lot of years.”
