Manufacturer Description
The Flyer II is widely considered the most versatile shortboard we make. Full rails allow for floatation in small waves while the swallow tail keeps it solid in overhead surf. Order it 1/8” thinner than your normal shortboard. Also commonly ridden an inch shorter.
If you can only have one board for all types of waves from real small to well over-head, this is your board. Can be ridden by all styles of surfer.

This board is a great all around board. This is my favorite board in my quiver. I've riden everything from knee high to head and a half high. It holds pretty well in pretty big waves. It doesn't paddle as well as the flyer I.

found that the board caught alittle on turns and tended to dig in the rails. looking for something smaller and narrower.

Need something to paddle into more waves at places like Rincon. Need something faster to make more sections. I have never surfed a pintail, but I think it could do the trick, just looking for a second opinion.

Great on clean fast waves, slow in the mushy stuff

All around descent board, but master of nothing special. Tail likes to slide and odes not bite well on steeper waves or tight pockets.

So I like my flyer but I have a hard time making the popup work. I'll make maybe less than 50% of the waves I try for. When I do make the popup I am happy with my ability to pump down the line and maneuver. I've considered a fish but don't necessarily like the idea because while they allow for me to land like 95% of every wave I try for, I have a really hard time making it snap or cut hard. Is there a board that is stable on the takeoff but allows for great maneuverability once I'm up?
